Legends are made of materials like this: the Open 60

Single-hull Open60 boats are used for sailing regattas, e.g. the Vendee Globe: All around the globe. All by oneself (as a single-handed sailor). The Vendee Globe is known as one of the worlds toughest regattas. This exceptional race was created by sailor Philippe Jeantot in 1989 and has been taking place once in four years ever since.
Open60 boats are extremely seaworthy and belong to the most innovative and fastest offshore yachts out on the market. The broad stern und the slim figure of the Open60 allow for excellent gliding characteristics and through the dual steering gear this model is very docile and well manoeuvrable even at strong heeling.

Through this setup, it is even possible to sail across the southern polar sea with a velocity of more than 30 knots.


An inquest ultimately resulting in the assignment by clothing manufacturer HUGO BOSS prompted us to develop a model of an Open60. Considering the length of just 74cm, the long keel fin and the dual steering gear really make the Open60 model a pleasure to sail, especially in windy and wavy conditions. Gliding is possible! The bowsprit, the dual steering gear and the huge genoa turn this model into an absolute eye-catcher. And with a height of 155cm from bottom to top, it is easily transportable.

The new Open60 EVO4 is ready!

June 2009 we developed a new hull shape and rigging:
- better light air characteristics through less wet hull area
- better plannung characteristics through the "skiff" - Edge in the rear part of hull
- higher course stability through the new keel with elliptical bomb
- new, 10cm higher mast an new sails with great designs
- main boom with adjustable boom pusher instead of boomvang

Mast and hull are made of carbon, the strongback of carbon-corecell sandwich. The daggboards are removable, and available as option. Without the daggerbords the boat sails faster, with daggerbords it looks more fascinating on your desk.

The new Open 60 with "neutral" design without hull stickers and with black coating.

Only history: 2006 the strongback, made of lasercut aluminium normally used in aircraft construction, stiffens the shape of the boat: It absorbs the force coming from the rig, the keel and the rudder to forward it onto the surface of the hull. At the same time, the strongback is used as a carrier for the winch and the rudder-servo. Now we use a new designed carbon-corecell-sandwich construktion. For a nominal charge of EUR 1,80 plus postal charges of EUR 1,44 you can order a DVD with some footage of the maiden voyage and first tests at the marina in Wedel. On the DVD you will also find several clips of AC models and projects that stockmaritime is involved with.
