First inofficial German AC-modelboat Championships 2006

The first regatta of this kind could be executed under good conditions. The grey sky and temperatures just above the freezing point could not hold off our 23 brave sailors to arrive at the rather winterly abandoned marina at Wedel (the remaining 10 sailors were probably scared by the weather). Two groups and four races each at slight wind could be organised.

On Sunday, the sailors (some of them having travelled from as a far as Karlsruhe, Dortmund, Berlin) were rewarded with bright sunshine. Within a third group (starting a little late at 11:30am), the contenders having arrived on Saturday could compete for gold, silver and bronze.

Oliver Schott from Kiel was awarded German Champion after having achieved two 1st places. Dietmar Salto from Hamburg came second with the same amount of points and at a marginal distance, Tilman Röver ranked third.

German AC-sailing Champion 2006: Oliver Schott.

Thanks to the capable racing director Marc Schleifer from BSC, all races could be run very professionally and fairly.
Stockmaritime employee Martin Szech and voluntary recording clerk Sandra Dickhaut supported Marc Schleifer very dedicatedly.
Arne Meyer (stockmaritime) oversaw the regatta bureau, provided for charged batteries (48 AA batteries) and supported us solve smaller and bigger problems. The catering by restaurant “Tonne 122” was always on the spot, providing for sufficient food and raising our spirits. Through the use of our “stockmaritime lifeboat” and an alienated FD, we were able to prevent several losses of boats.
We thank all our helpers for their commitment!

United Sailor’s Cup
For the first time in 156 years since the start of the America’s Cup, a German team, i.e. “United Internet Team Germany”, will be rising to the challenge of participating. During the 13 foreruns, the crews will prepare for this ultimate and superlative event in order to finally determine the contender in Valencia in 2007 that will be competing against incumbent champion Alinghi.

Following “1&1”, “web.de” and “Schlund+Partner” that support the race with huge budgets and enormous sailing boats, our employees try to do the exact same thing, just on a scale of 1:42: 10 teams in total from “Group 1&1” and “web.de” join in to reproduce our great prototype, the America’s Cup. During the events “1. Cup”, “Stockmaritime-Cup” and “3. Cup” (12 acts in total), the crews will be preparing for this ultimate event and will determine three participants for the “United Sailor’s Cup.” Each act will be executed as a “Fleet Race”, where all boats sail together, and as a so-called “Macht Race”, implying one-on-one duels.
On the website www.united-sailors-cup.de, you will get loads of information on the course of events, the participants, the regulations and results of acts and cups.

Our request: If a regatta takes place somewhere around Germany, please contact us and inform us about the date.

Excerpt from the mail by Johannes Ladewig:

"Dear Team stockmaritime! We are seven brand-new boat-owners (a-cupper) and we are very much satisfied with your boats. As we all come from one club and some of us still sail in a performance-oriented way, we would be very happy to race all together. After the first few successful regattas (pictures of the last regatta can be found in the gallery), we are still highly motivated and would be thankful for your support in some regattas.”

Subscribe to our newsletter! This way, you will get all the latest information and pictures, accessories for your modelboat and dates for regattas! ."
